cutting the corn...

i got my tint fixed this weekend! dan shinn! j/k.

but the highlight of the weekend is getting escorted by security out a halloween venue.

on sat night, a few of us decided to go to a corn maze. essentially, a maze carved into the corn field. after waiting in line for an hour among mostly children and their parents, we were asked our admission selection. instead of choosing the two venue combo, we opted for the single venue - either the scary trail or the corn maze. (save 8 bucks) while waiting in line to enter the maze, we read on the posted sign, no "cutting through the corn fields permitted." we entered the corn maze, and after a while, became bored pretty quickly. it definitely wasn't worth the 12 bucks we shelled out, and the hour we waited. we tried to make it more entertaining by scaring each other, but it's not like we look like monsters. from across the corn fields, we could hear the action from the scary trail. so five out of the eight of us decided we would try to sneak into the trail.

it's actually pretty easy to cut through the corn since the leaves don't grow below a certain height. if you get below that height, it's as easy as walking through a small tunnel. on our first attempt, we saw the monsters hiding and jumping out at the trail walkers. but we decided that particular location wasn't good b/c it was too close to the monsters. we reverted back and went further up the trail. we tunneled through and eventually popped out onto the scary trail in two separate groups. the trail looked like the corn maze except when i turned around, i saw a monster approaching us, and i sort of yelled something along the line of "aaah..hey, look over there. " well, the monster approached and asked us where we came from, and if any more were with us. the three of us were mute, so this particular girl monster asked the trail walkers if we were with them. reeling from a recent scared, they said yes, and then followed with a no. so the girl monster said she would escort us out. while we were walking toward the entrance, we could hear the girl talking on the walkie-talkie "we got 3 cutters, and a potential four" she then handed us off to a big tall heavy looking monster, and he also something similar and that he was bringing us to security. talk about embarrassing. we're the adults among kids, and we're doing the cutting thing. while we were walking back,i was like, man, i hope we don't get arrested or have to provide our information..."this can't be a felony" hubert who is a lawyer told me later he was thinking that his record may no longer be cleaned. anyhow, we arrived at the entrance and freed to go. behind us, the remaining two from our original group got escorted out. the observers in line saw a bunch of cutters walk past them. when do you ever see 5 asians guilty of a crime, except something for like this - being cheap!

i tell ya, though it was embarrassing, it was worth it. it made an otherwise uneventful maze eventful. not many ppl experience what we experienced. they either got the corn maze or the scary trail. we created our experience. :) i would do it over again!

to be common...

To be great, you need to be common; to be extraordinary, you need to be
ordinary...that is the way of God, that is the way of the cross, and
that is the way of Christ.

wedding cakes and donuts

if were a pastry or baked item, i much prefer to be a wedding cake over
a donut. a wedding cake is carefully crafted, and beautifully decorated.
a donut is just thrown into the oil, and topped with some glazed
topping/fruit.

well, imagine that you are a wedding cake, and God asked you to become a
donut in order for folks to see you as a wedding cake and in doing so,
that they too will become a wedding cake.

yeah, hopefully, you get the point. christ became a donut for us to see
Him as a wedding cake (most glorious) that we can also grow towards
becoming a wedding cake.
