Tony Dungy - real faith

I was meaning to blog about this early. But one of guys I really
respect in sports is the Indianapolis Colts headcoach, Tony Dungy. His
son passed away about two weeks ago from an apparent suicide. Yet in
them midst of pain and mourning, Tony continues to pressed forward with
faith and belief in the promises of God. Gosh, I can't even imagine
losing a child, but more than that, I can't even imagine to have that
kind of faith, that kind of perspective.

I once heard someone say something like, faith becomes genuine when
pressed. In the backdrop of all that has happening, and really, all
that is happening, Dungy's faith is as real as the lost he feels.

Check out part of his statement to the press on the day of his son's funeral.

--------------

"We want to thank everyone for your outpouring of love," said Dungy. "We
loved our son very much. We have some tremendous promises from God.
He's with us in the great times and in the tough times. Our grief is
great, but from our family we just say thank you to everyone. We
appreciate everyone who touched his life. James was a very good man
with a compassionate heart. We're glad he had a chance to claim Jesus
as his savior before he passed. God has him now for the rest of
eternity," Dungy said.

The connection..promises of God -> God has him now for the rest of
eternity. Man, that's perspective, that's strength, and that's real.
