i sort of finished the lyrics to this song a couple of weeks ago. the song was too long, so i cut some of some of the original lyrics. anyhow, this is my first song, though i really don't know what i'm doing. haha...
the song is about Easter, mediating on the cross, the death, and the resurrection, the victory, and what that means for me: the past, present, and future. it talks about being amazed at the sacrifice, the assurance of things to come; and gratitude of accepting and internalizing what all of it means to me...that my life is not the same, and will never be so. i feel compelled w/gratitude and awe of the God who came, died, resurrected, and calls me to Him...it's the fire and passion of God that saves me, gives me satisfaction and peace, and runs deep in my soul, that inspires me to Him, and to others....
k...i need a better explanation..but here are the lyrics..
---------------------
------stanza 1----------
i come to the cross
wretched, blind, and lost
claim what was bought...for me
the risen son
awakens my soul
tells me come....to Him
------stanza 2----------
i come to the cross
remembering the cost
my savior died....for me..
the risen son
shouts of victory won
i will go...to Him
--chorus-------
i find my life
complete in you
forever found
forever new
my heart's open wide
my soul set free
to live for truth
to live for you
--bridge 1-------
my Jesus, my Savior
the tears, they fall
you died on that tree
all the wrongs you took for me
my Jesus, my Lord
I fall on my knees
you rose from the grave
despair is gone away
--bridge 2-------
my Jesus, my friend
my life's not same
You allowed me to see
Your glory shared with me
my Jesus, my hope
i can't go back
my heart is aflamed
to live for your name

i like what bono wrote on this email from one.org... it's expressed well in the one statement, "it's not about charity, it's about justice". well put. often times, we approach helping the poor as some charity function, that it's a good thing to do, but entirely optional. i believe in God's eyes, it's not about us doing something good as it's about His grace and blessings that He shares with us, and ought to be shared to all. i heard this lecturer say something like, "God works to bring glory to His name and serve the common good." ...i'm still figuring this stuff out, but it makes sense...not charity, justice.
check out the context below.

Every person I have met only makes me more hopeful, more convinced that Africa is rising.
It's about lives saved and transformed, it's about the girl who gets to go to school, the mothers who will live to raise their children because of life-saving AIDS drugs, the entrepreneurs thriving and providing jobs...
It is not about charity, it's about justice. Together as ONE, we can do even more... this is our civil rights movement.
in the world,
the past haunts us, the present scourges us, and the future frightens
us.
in Christ,
the past encourages us, the present helps us, and the future beckons
us.
thank goodness, i'm in Christ. :P
